Deutschland-Semesterticket becomes more expensive
From the winter semester 2026/27, the Deutschland-Semesterticket for students in Leipzig will cost 226.80 € per semester. This is an increase of 18 € compared to the current price (37.80 € per month). The reason is the increase in the regular Deutschlandticket to 63 € per month as of January 2026, which takes effect with a delay for the semester ticket.
Despite the price increase, a majority of Leipzig students voted in favor of continuing the ticket in a student survey. The student representatives on the semester ticket committee also supported the new contract. Following a decision by the Administrative Board of the Studentenwerk Leipzig, the adjusted contribution regulations have been legally effective since 12 February 2026.
The Deutschland-Semesterticket remains a fully solidarity-based mandatory ticket for all fee-paying students at the participating Leipzig universities. Thanks to the solidarity model and subsidies from the federal and state governments, it still costs around 60 percent of the regular Deutschlandticket.
Mobility fund is being increased
Also from the winter semester 2026/27, the contribution to the Mobility Fund will increase to 4 € per semester. The fund helps finance, among other things, the student bicycle self-help workshops. The adjustment was necessary due to rising personnel and rental costs for the operators.
The semester ticket and mobility fund contributions will, as usual, be collected during re-registration or enrollment. Please plan for the higher costs at your next registration.
