AutoLoad

Important to the AutoLoad

No cash in your pockets and feeling hungry? With AutoLoad you can top your card automatically at our check outs!

What is AutoLoad?

  • AutoLoad is a service for modern and easy cashless payment.
  • If the balance on your student or mensa card is used up or the balance falls below your predetermined threshold balance, you can top up automatically at our checkouts.
  • To do this, you set up a direct debit mandate (SEPA) for Studentenwerk Leipzig.
  • The minimum amount to be upgraded is set at registration and can be adjusted/changed later in the online portal.

Why AutoLoad?

  • You do not have to wait at the charging terminals
  • Fast and cashless payment at the checkouts
  • Comfortable handling via the Card Service Portal

Where and how can I register for AutoLoad?

  • To use AutoLoad, you are required to register once.
  • For the registration you need an initial password which you receive upon request at all checkouts in our Mensas and Cafeterias.
  • With the help of this password and your card number you log in at our Card Service Portal and register for AutoLoad.
  • Eligible for registration are all students and employees of the Universitys’ in Leipzig that are covered by Studentenwerk Leipzig.
  • You need a bank account at a German bank, the inital password and your student card or Mensa card.

After initial registration, you can change your password in the Card Service Portal. If you lose your initial password, it can be printed out again at any time at every checkout in our Mensas & Cafeterias.

At the Card Service Portal you can make use of the following functions:

  • display and change the bank connection you indicated for AutoLoad
  • display the card transactions

  • cancel your participation in AutoLoad at any time

Questions and Answers

  • Loading amount – What is it and how do I change it?

The loading amount is the amount of money that will be loaded onto your student or mensa card at our checkouts. As soon as your current amount falls below threshold balance and you agree to top up your card, the loading amount (Standard: 10 EUR) will be added.

    • Minimum loading amount: 5.00 EUR
    • Maximum loading amount: 50.00 EUR
  • What is the threshold balance and how do I change it?

The threshold balance is the limit that triggers an AutoLoad request at our checkouts. You are asked if you want to top up and have to agree to it if you want to. The standard threshold balance is 2.00 EUR. After registering, you can change the threshold balance on the service portal at any time.

  • When can I top up?

Topping up your card does only work if you buy something at the checkouts in our student restaurants and cafeterias. The processes “buying transaction” and “topping up” are linked within our point-of-sale system and cannot be separated.

  • What if I do not have enough money in my bank account?

If, after loading money onto your card via AutoLoad, Studentenwerk Leipzig receives a return debit note due to an uncovered bank account, your mensa card will be blocked. Loading money onto your card from an uncovered bank account causes fees for Studentenwerk Leipzig.

  • Blocking due to outstanding payments – what to do?

Outstanding payments can be paid in the Mensa am Elsterbecken in the foyer room 004, Marschnerstraße 29C. The card will then be unblocked and is usuable for AutoLoad again. It is possible to block the card in case of repeated problems. Please book an appointment in advance via our appointment tool. The card will then be unblocked and can be used for AutoLoad again. It is possible to block a card for AutoLoad via the internet query in case of repeated problems.

An outstanding payment results from the following: If your card is topped up via AutoLoad, the respective amount of money will be drawn from your bank account after three to five work days through direct debit. It may occur that your bank blocks the transfer which causes fees for the return debit note by your bank and the bank Studentenwerk Leipzig has. The outstanding payment breaks down to the amount you wanted to top up and the fees.

  • What about data privacy?

It goes without saying that Studentenwerk Leipzig does not save any information like your name, date of birth or adress on your student or mensa card. Drawing conclusions regarding your person or financial conditions is not possible through occupation of your card by a third party.

Connected to your card is your direct debite mandate (SEPA) including bank details and adress, which is needed for loading cash onto your card. Studentenwerk Leipzig does not save any further information electronically. The direct debite mandate (SEPA), including the respective information, is saved according to statutory provisions for a period of at least 14 months calculated from the filing of the last drawn debite note.

  • What happens if I lose my card?

In case of loss of the student or mensa card, the card holder is required on their own responsibility to block the card as quickly as possible online on the Service Portal or at the respective issuing office in order to prevent misuse. Studentenwerk Leipzig cannot accept any liability in the event of loss.

  • What happens with the remaining balance in case of loss?

The card number must be requested at the same time as the card is blocked. You can use your card number at the counter of the Studentenwerk in the Student Service Centre (SSZ), Goethestraße 3-5 or by email to kartenservice@studentenwerk-leipzig.de to have your remaining credit transferred to a new card or to have it paid out in cash in the Mensa am Elsterbecken in the foyer room 004, Marschnerstr. 29C.

  • What do I have to do before returning the card?

Before returning the card the direct debit mandat (SEPA) has to be cancelled in our service portal.
