MDV transport network region is changing

Starting from 15 December 2019, the MDV is expanding its transport network region. This change will not be included in the semester ticket.

From 15 December 2019, the area covered by MDV is extended by trainlines in the regions Anhalt-Bitterfeld, Wittenberg and Dessau-Roßlau city (MDV north). However, students have to be careful: This extension is NOT included in the semester ticket. For travel in the extended MDV area, an additional ticket is required from the last stop in the "old" MDV area. 

 All other contents of the semester ticket remain as known. This includes the inner-city means of transport in Leipzig and Halle, as well as seven S-Bahn lines, numerous regional railway and regional express lines as well as around 500 bus and PlusBus lines.

The contract between the Studentenwerk and MDV was only extended for a further five years in the current winter semester 2019/20.  At the time of the contract negotiations, however, the North extension was not so far advanced that it could have been subject of the negotiations. The Semester Ticket Committee of the Studentenwerk Leipzig was closely involved in the contract negotiations.
