As of the winter semester of 2016/17, all of Leipzig’s students can get from A to B at especially low prices: the MDV ticket allows them to use the busses and trains run by the transport association Mitteldeutscher Verkehrsverbund around the clock, always for one semester. You will find more information and an overview of the area covered by MDV on the Mitteldeutscher Verkehrsverbund website.

The Mitteldeutscher Verkehrsverbund leaflet provides all the information concerning the MDV-Vollticket.

The amount for the semester payable for the MDV-Vollticket plus 1.50 € for the Mobility Fund will be collected along with the Semesterbeitrag, meaning this amount has to be paid by all students of the participating universities and academies.

Attention: The price for the MDV-Vollticket changes every year in the winter semester. For more information please check our website Semester Contribution.

Your valid student ID or student card containing the MDV logo together with an official ID card will serve as your ticket for the whole area covered by MDV. You can use all means of local transportation, including all LVB lines in Leipzig and the commuter trains (S-Bahn), around the clock and throughout the entire semester. Validity only starts at the official beginning of the semester of the respective university or academy.

Please note: a preliminary certificate of enrolment (vorläufige Immatrikulationsbescheinigung) is not considered to be a valid ticket!

Students in possession of a valid student card (containing the logo "MDV") may take along their bicycle free of charge in LVB busses and trains on a daily basis (also during the weekend and on public holidays), but only during the time between 7.00 p.m. and 5.00 a.m., provided there is enough space to do so. During the day between 5.00 a.m. and 7.00 p.m. you will need an "extra ticket" for taking along your bicycle in the LVB busses and trams.

However, you should always use this service in a considerate and respectful way and not insist on it at all cost. Should there ever be not enough space for taking along your bicycle, we suggest to maybe just wait for the next tram…

The MDV-Vollticket allows you to take along your bicycle free of charge at any time of the day in the local trains within the entire area covered by MDV.

For further information about taking along a bicycle, please refer to the flyer "Fahrradmitnahme im Verbund" (Transport of a bicycle within the LVB area) in the MDV download area under "Informationen zum MDV-Tarif" (Information about the MDV fare).
