Studying with psychological problems—what to do? A guideline provides help for teachers.
Students often find themselves in a vulnerable position due to a completely new life situation caused by the various challenges they have to face. For many, this is the first thime they'll suffer from a mental disease or they'll notice an intensification of previousely known stress symptoms. Therefore it is important for teachers to observe possible difficulties and behaviours in their students and to take them seriousely in order to provide help. But what warning signs can be observed after all? How seriousely should depressive moods or examination anxiety be taken? What help offers are available?
Leipzig University's Equal Opportunity Office and Studentenwerk Leipzig's Psychosocial Counselling have created a guideline for teachers in order to provide help in these concerns. It features a sheet for affected students. Both is available in an accessible version.
