Depending on your request, we recommend different ways to get in touch.
| Topic/type of question | Recommended Contact |
|---|---|
| General BAföG advice (e.g. change of subject, transcript of records, funding for international students) | Please first contact the free BAföG hotline (see above). Alternatively, you can use the in-person consultation hours on site. |
| Questions about the application process (e.g. forms, deadlines, technical questions about BAföG Digital) | Most questions can be resolved quickest in person with your counsellor. To submit additional documents or report changes (e.g., a new bank account), please use the postal service or BAföG-Digital. |
| Questions about the processing status of your application (after a reasonable processing time) | We kindly ask you to generally refrain from such inquiries, as they require a lot of processing time and can extend the overall processing duration. If a follow-up is exceptionally necessary, please use the in-person consultation hours on site or – if you are not nearby – the telephone consultation hours of your personal contact person. |
| Questions about whether documents have arrived | We also kindly ask you to generally refrain from these inquiries to avoid delays in the overall processing. Only if a follow-up is exceptionally necessary should you contact your personal counsellor during in-person or telephone consultation hours. |
| Urgent or complex concerns about your application | Please generally consult your counsellor in person on site. |
TIP: If you have any important questions, simply drop by during our office hours – it’s often quicker and we can help you straight away.
