Preparatory German courses for refugees – especially also for Ukrainians

Refugees who want to study at the University of Leipzig can take part in preparatory German courses free of charge beforehand.

From July 2022, the University of Leipzig will once again offer German language courses for refugees who want to start studying at the University of Leipzig. The language courses last six months. Participants graduate with the German Language Test for University Admission (DSH).

Required for participation:

  • a direct higher education entrance qualification (through the higher education entrance qualification or a first degree abroad)
  • German language skills at level B1 (GER) or proof of participation in 500 hours of German lessons. If the interested persons are still attending a B1 course at the time of application, we ask them to upload the confirmation of attendance of the current course.
  • a desired concrete subject at the university of leipzig
  • a refugee status or protection status according to § 24 AufenthG
