Our Cultural Spotlight in September 2020

The exhibition „识-Shi“ opens the door to an encounter with contemporary Chinese art. It is supported by the cultural funding of Studentenwerk Leipzig.

Our cultural spotlight for September is the fascinating exhibition "识-Shi", which presents contemporary Chinese art. One possible translation for the word "Shi" is  "Wahrnehmung". The exhibition primarily focuses on the ways in which young Chinese artists perceive the results of the structural changes, China underwent in the 1990s. More specifically, the art on display is about reflecting  expectations regarding globalized digitalization and  experiences that are connected to traditional Chinese culture.

The exhibition presents traditional and modern culture through different art forms and activities, allowing visitors to experience many aspects of Chinese culture and art at first hand.

The exhibiting artists are Wentao Luo, Han He, Sheng Tian, Kaifan Wang, Hui Yang, Haijun Yu and Ming Liu.
