New recipes for the Mensa at home: this one is for braised eggplants filled with vegetables, a dish that is popular in Turkey, Albania, Bulgaria and Greece. İmam bayıldı translates as "the Iman fainted" - probably in delight because of the delicious taste. Of course, we hope that none of you will faint after eating the eggplants, but we still hope you will be delighted with the taste and have lots of fun cooking it!
Eggplant İmam bayıldı
Ingredients (4 persons)
1 celery stalk
4 cloves of garlic
Sambal oelek or chili
First cut the eggplants in half, season them with salt and pepper, then place them on a baking tray with the skin facing downwards.
Cook the eggplants in the oven at 180°C for about 25 minutes. When they are ready, pull the flesh slightly apart in the middle using a fork.
For the filling, wash the vegetables, then cut them into fine cubes, sauté them in a pan and season.
Fill the prepared eggplants with the mixture and cook them in the oven at 160°C for another 15 minutes.
