There is now something new to discover in the Cafeteria Mensa am Park: The artwork ‘Again and again’ by Ida Lovis Hüsing, a student at the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig (HGB), has been officially unveiled..
The installation – an interplay of wall painting and coloured clay plates – invites visitors to linger and discover. “Each plate tells its own story and combines with the mural to create a new, lively composition. Especially in a Cafeteria, where people come together, the installation is intended to stimulate conversations and constantly open up new perspectives,” explains Hüsing.
The work was created as part of the ‘Kunst am Bau’ competition organised by Studentenwerk Leipzig together with the HGB. Ten students submitted their concepts and five were shortlisted – in the end, Hüsing’s idea won thanks to its creativity and good sense for the space.
The project shows what can be achieved when Art Academy and Studentenwerk work together: Art that makes an impact in the middle of everyday campus life.
