On 2 and 3 June 2026, Studentenwerk Leipzig will welcome colleagues from Studierendenwerk Erlangen-Nürnberg at Mensa am Park as part of the “Tandem Campaign”. The focus will be on Franconian specialties and culinary exchange between the student services organizations.
On the menu are:
- Tuesday, 2 June: Pork ragout “Altfränkisch” with bacon, onions, and marjoram, served with spaetzle or pasta
- Wednesday, 3 June: Franconian potato stew (vegetarian) with baguette or bread rolls
In addition, there will be a tasting stand on both days offering small samples of plum cake (“Pflaumendatschi”).*
What is the “Tandem Campaign”?
The “Tandem Campaign” is an initiative of the East German student services organizations. During the campaign days, one part of the tandem presents regional specialties in a canteen of the partner organization. In addition to culinary highlights, the focus is above all on the exchange between the kitchen teams—true to the motto: looking beyond one’s own plate. In November 2026, Studentenwerk Leipzig will then make a return visit to Franconia.
Studentswerk Leipzig has been taking part in the campaign since 2006. Over the past years, Leipzig kitchen teams have presented Saxon cuisine in places such as Greifswald, Berlin, Frankfurt (Oder), Magdeburg, Erlangen, and Munich. In return, numerous kitchen teams from these student services organizations have visited Leipzig and brought their regional specialties with them.
The campaign dishes can also be found in the menu.
