On 8 June 2022, we will host an online event to answer the questions:

Information event for students affected by the war in Ukraine who are already studying in Leipzig
In this online event on 15 June 2022, advisors from the Stabsstelle Internationales/Universität Leipzig and the Social Counselling/Studentenwerk Leipzig will provide information on questions relating to:
After the lecture on these topics, there will be time for questions and there will be space to tell us about your needs. This way we can find out how we as institutions can provide additional support to students from Ukraine.
When: Wednesday, 15 June 2022, from 4.00 to 5.30 p.m.
The online event will be held in German.
Students of the Universität Leipzig from Ukraine will receive an invitation to the event via AlmaWeb. Students from other universities can register here and will be sent the link to the online room.

Ukrainian citizens and third-country nationals who studied in Ukraine, for example, can stay in the EU without a visa for up to 90 days. There is no obligation to register until after the three months.

Information on student funding

People who are already enrolled at one of Leipzig's universities and are experiencing financial difficulties can apply for one-time financial assistance.
If you are not yet studying at one of the universities and need money to pay the semester fee (or other costs related to your studies), you can also try to apply to the association "Hilfe für ausländische Studierende e.V.". They support you with a maximum of 500 Euros.
The Sächsische Staatsministerium für Wissenschaft, Kultur und Tourismus (SMWK) (Saxon State Ministry for Science, Culture and Tourism) has extended the funding guidelines for the Georgius Agricola Scholarship - so it is now also open to students from Ukraine.
The social counselling of Studentenwerk Leipzig provides an overview of the scholarship refers applicants to the Studentenwerk Dresden, which is responsible for full-time support throughout Saxony and processes the applications.

Language classes

In general, German language skills at level C1 are one of the prerequisites for taking up studies in Germany. For some study programmes, e.g., held in English, there are other specifications. German classes are offered by language schools, the universities or the Studienkolleg.
