Investment in climate protection and living quality: facade renovation of the student residence at Tarostraße begins

The Studentenwerk Leipzig continues to invest in sustainable and future-oriented student housing: At the beginning of June 2026, the energy-efficient renovation of the west façade of the Tarostraße Student Hall of Residence will begin.

As part of the approximately €2.8 million project, the windows on the west side will be replaced with modern thermal insulation and solar control glazing. In addition, the façade will receive new thermal insulation that meets current energy efficiency and fire safety standards.

The construction work is expected to last until the end of October 2026. Residents will not need to move out; the window replacement will take place while the building is occupied. According to the strict schedule, the more intensive disruptions per residential unit will be limited to about one week.

With this renovation, Studentenwerk Leipzig aims to improve the building’s energy efficiency and students’ living comfort, while also contributing to the long-term stabilization of utility costs. Renovation of the east façade is planned for 2027.
