Besides studying, there are other issues that are important in everyday life. For example, the various ways for financing your studies, one of the most common being taking a job. When a child joins the family, this also influences study planning and financing. Existing (financial) plans have to be reconsidered. Also, studying can bring further challenges if a chronic illness or disability affects daily life.
As of June 2021, various online events of our Social Counselling Service will be taking part. You will receive useful information on various topics related to financing your studies, studying during a pregnancy or with child(ren), studying with a chronic illness and/or disability, and studying with a residence permit.

Round Table for International Students
Online meeting

This regular round table is open to students from all Leipzig universities who feel they belong to the group of international students. This format is intended to be used to get in touch with each other, to exchange ideas and to inform each other. The contents of the meetings can be adapted by the participants according to their needs. The first events will take place online. If the infection situation changes, on-site events are conceivable.

Work While You Study In Leipzig
Online lecture

Managing your finances is a very important challenge you need to figure out as an international student. About two-thirds of international students choose to work part-time to cover their living expenses. In this information event, we inform prospective students as well as students about the topic of working while studying. It covers topics such as:
- How many hours of working are allowed?
- How much money am I allowed to earn?
- Which different job types do exist?
- Where can I find jobs?
- and many more.

The time before birth, is shaped by the many questions that expectant student parents have: When do I have to take care of the paternity acknowledgment and custody declaration? What financial support benefits can I apply for during pregnancy, and how do I best organize my studies? All these topics will be discussed in the online event and there will also be time for your questions. The event is open to all students at Leipzig universities and their partners.

In this lecture, student parents (and parents-to-be) will receive information on all aspects of financing your studies with child(ren). Options from BAföG to housing benefit, SGB II benefits to children's allowance, parental allowance and education allowance provided by the state will be discussed. Afterwards, there will be time for questions. The event is open to all students at Leipzig universities and their partners.

Studium mit Kind(ern) – Kinderbetreuung und deren Kosten

How can I find a childcare place for my child in Leipzig? When should I start looking for daycare? What does daycare actually cost and how can I finance it? All these questions about childcare and its costs as well as possiblities for discounted fees will be discussed in this event. There will also be time for questions later on. The event is open to all students at Leipzig universities and their partners.
