My Studies in Leipzig: Info Day for Refugee and International Prospective Students
The information day was launched in 2018 by the Studentenwerk Leipzig in cooperation with the Leipzig Hochschule für Technik, Wirtschaft und Kultur and the Universität Leipzig. Since then, the event has been supported by other universities from Leipzig and the surrounding area. The aim is to inform international and refugee prospective students on the topics of applying, starting their studies and financing their studies. The event takes place annually.

Lecture & Workshop
12 noon-01.00 p.m.: Presentation from the organisation ArbeiterKind "Study financing through scholarships for international and refugee students and prospective students" In this workshop, questions about scholarships will be clarified: what is a scholarship? Which one fits best to whom? Who can apply for a scholarship? Tips for the motivation letter and the application will also be given.
02.00 p.m.-04.30 p.m.: Workshop from the International Centre of Leipzig University "Get ready for studying in Germany!" Things you should know about the German "academic culture".
With the beginning of your studies you will have many questions about your new study environment. You might notice lots of differences. In this workshop we will help you to answer your questions about studying in Germany an the values and attitudes in German “academic culture”, such as: What is the teaching and learning culture in Germany? What is expected of me in terms of individual work and group work? How do I communicate successfully? How do I deal with cultural confusions?
Languages & Translation
Several students will be available to translate different languages. if necessary visitors can also bring their own language support. Translations available in: English, French, Spanish, Arabic, Kurdish, Japanese, Russian, Ukrainian, Persian.
