Welcome Week - Summer semester 2011

There are more than 10 tutors from the Studentenwerk available to help international students with questions and problems related to their studies, as well as with issues of residence in Germany or private matters. The tutors all work on a voluntary basis and usually live in one of the Studentenwerk's halls of residence.

In December 2008, the tutors were given the "Café of the Five Continents" in the halls of residence at Straße des 18. Oktober 33. The tutors' office is situated directly next to it. As student meeting places, both offer the opportunity to get talking to fellow students as well as to ask the tutors any questions you may have.

The tutors offer a wide range of activities to promote the integration and support of international students: buddy program, Welcome Week, "running dinner" evenings in the halls of residence, crockery exchange, games and video evenings and much more besides.

NILS, the Netzwerk zur Integration und Betreuung in Leipzig ausländischer Studierender (Network for the Integration and Support of International Students in Leipzig) was set up more than two years ago. Several times a year, representatives of the Studentenwerk, Leipzig's institutes of higher education, student clubs for individual nationalities and student representatives meet to share their experiences and information concerning the integration and support of international students.
